Lids hard to fasten tightly, and jar EXPLODED
When I bought these, what I was looking for was the older version I had purchased a few years ago that have a screw-on lid. I could not find that type, so I purchased these which have a lid you have to push down hard to get a good seal all the way around. I find it almost impossible to get the lids on securely with these - I have to apply a lot of pressure and keep pulling the lid off and trying again, pulling around the edges.
I use these mainly for food storage in the freezer. After emptying the last ones and washing them I noticed a bit of residual food smell in the container, so I dumped a bit of baking soda in the container to absorb the smell. My intention was to put the lid on and let it sit for a while before washing it again. While struggling to get the lid pushed down and fastened onto the container, the container literally EXPLODED all over my kitchen with a loud bang, shards of plastic and baking soda flying everywhere. I'm just thankful my 4 year old...
Not my favorite
The lids didn't fit well and allowed big messes in the lunch box. I like the size and was looking for something the little kids could open and close easily.
Great item
I bought these for a friend that makes natural jam. She has had a hard time finding them in the store. They work great in the freezer.
